Buying doorknobs, door handles, kitchen knobs, light fixtures, vanities etc

Do you guys buy these yourself from wholesalers or do you get cheap contractors to supply them too?

I'd imagine a lot of suppliers sell them a lot cheaper than the $50 expensive knobs etc at Home Depot etc.

I'm trying to buy stuff for a house to sell.

I'd be interested in seeing if there are cheaper suppliers that sell this stuff, I'd imagine there must be cheaper stuff than Home Depot in Markham or Scarborough.

Thanks

There's no one answer. Sometimes HD or Lowes will be cheaper, other times you can get it cheaper elsewhere. You have to shop around.

I agree. I have seen packs or bags of a dozen or so knobs and handles for sale at Home Depot and Lowes and even Rona.

Check Ebay too... A couple of years ago I got flaming hot deals on door handles for the whole house and SS bar cabinet hardware...

Thinking seriously about the 4 S's...Sun, Sand, Surf and ... Booked for Sept in Mexico and booked Samana DR for Jan!

I replaced all of our door handles and kitchen cabinets handles as part of our reno. I found RONA had good pricing for door knobs/ handles. I purchased the kitchen cabinet handles thru EBAY but found some at HD sold in bigger pkg.

If you're in the GTA I'd suggest Home Again and the Habitat Restore. Both are on Bermondsey just south of Eglinton.

I was at Home Again last week to get fixtures for a new bathroom and got two bathroom sinks (American Standard) for $15 each and two single handle Moen faucets for $40 each.

This is a "heads up" with respect to the site mentioned in this thread, namely: www.renovationoutlet.ca -- they are not as they seem. I noticed items being sold on kijiji and then located the (seller's) website which offered what seemed to be good prices on door handles. Pickup was an option BUT they offered shipping at $1.00 per handle... such a great offer. Right? I needed lots of door handles but decided to order 1, first, as a test. I was flipped to PayPal and completed the order. No order confirmation was rec'd from the site. I waited until the next day and emailed, asking for my order confirmation. A random, very unprofessional email was sent back simply stating my order was being shipped the next day. Exciting! Well the next day I got another email telling me that shipping for 1 item was too expensive so they had cancelled my order. They also told me that the minimum order was "now" 4 handles and that they were going to amend their website to reflect this new policy. PayPal did show a pending refund (funds held for over a week) and also showed this merchant and "unconfirmed" (PayPal users will know what I mean). That was my experience with www.renovationoutlet.ca. In the words of the wise... "If it seem too good to be true...."

I second HD and Rona for kitchen cabinent handles and knobs. They sell this brand called "american...." Can't remember but about 20-25 for a 10 pack of quite heavy style handles in lots of styles. Saved us a bit if you consider maybe 50 knobs and handles in a 10x10 kitchen.

I just bought 40 really nice Amerock Knobs from Amazon.com for half the price they were at HD. They were only $2 from Amazon.com (came from cabinets 4 less) they were over $5 each at HD.

I know this is a very old thread, but I took a chance despite the helpful review above and thought I'd give feedback. Checking out was still a little sketchy -- unlike most web storefronts I only received payment confirmation from PayPal and no e-mails from the vendor. Looks like accounts and e-mails on the webstore are simply disabled. Nervous after having read Kingster's story, I called to check and despite it being evening someone friendly picked up immediately and confirmed they had already received the order. I got a shipping notice from Canada Post early the next AM, insured and tracked. Received my order in less than 48h, well packaged and the handle quality is better than expected considering the prices.

We bought 11 handles (mix of privacy, passage and dummy) all for under $150 and I'd do it again.
